The International Wine Contest of Monde Selection is recognised by the European Union and takes place under the control of the General Management - Economic Inspection - of the Federal Public Service.
In addition to this European accreditation, the international wine contest of Monde Selection is the only one in Belgium that benefits from the high patronage of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (O.I.V.) and is organised according to its rules.
The participation is open to all wine producers, merchants, wine growers, distributors, exporters, importers, etc.
The Organising Committee of Monde Selection appoint the international jury members according to their professional competencies. These wine tasters or oenologists work blind according to the tasting sheets of OIV and UIOE (The International Union of Oenologists).
For its International Wine Contest, Monde Selection applies international regulations strictly regarding the organisation of the wine contest.
The contest is organised in Brussels during the first quarter of each year.
Each member of the jury will then blind taste the products presented to them by grape variety and origin and will each individually complete a tasting sheet in compliance with that of OIV and UIOE, the International Union of Oenologists.
This organoleptic tasting sheet includes the analysis of the following parameters: sight, the nose, the mouth and the overall harmony of the product.
The tasting sheets will then be collected and checked by the Federal Public Service of Belgium.
Depending on the average points given by each of the experts, the products will be awarded with a Bronze medal, a Silver medal, a Gold Medal or a grand Gold medal.
This will always be done in accordance with the regulations applicable for wine contests in Europe:
"The number of medals awarded to samples that have obtained the best results, must not exceed 30% of the total number of samples presented in the contest."
Monde Selection, based in Brussels, capital of Europe, has always been able to count on the collaboration of juries made up of eminent experts from the four corners of the world. This is a real advantage which gives each distinction awarded by Monde Selection an exclusive value.
For the International Wine Contest, we can count on the patronage of the International Vine and Wine Organisation (O.I.V.) through the intermediary of its general manager in Paris but also on the collaboration of:
